Job Title: Lead Upholstery Pattern Maker

Reports To: Manufacturing Manager/Engineering Manager

Job Summary :
The Upholstery Pattern Maker is responsible for the development and adjustment of fabric patterns for marine/boat furniture. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient production, quality control, and continuous improvement within the product development department. The Upholstery Pattern Maker will play a very important role in achieving quality fit and finish of marine furniture covers.
Key Responsibilities :
Design & Development:
Work with CAD engineer to modify patterns to achieve optimal fit.
Work with the design engineering team to ensure that upholstery components meet specifications and are manufacturable.
Cut/Sew/Upholster Prototypes
Quality Assurance :
Collaborate with the Quality team to establish and maintain quality standards for upholstered components.
Technical Support :
Provide technical guidance and support to production teams on upholstery (cut/sew/upholster) methods and best practices.
Troubleshoot fabrication issues and implement timely solutions to minimize downtime.
Documentation & Reporting :
Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of upholstery processes and procedures.
Health & Safety :
Promote a safe working environment by adhering to health and safety regulations and company policies.
Participate in safety audits and contribute to the development of safety protocols.
Experience :
3-5 years of experience in upholstery and pattern-making.
Technical Skills :
Proficiency in Sewing and Upholstery .
Candidate must be able to sew prototypes and build the furniture using standard upholstery methods, such as stapling .
Candidate must have an advanced understanding of and 3-5 years experience using industrial sewing machines.
Soft Skills :
Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions :
Environment: The role involves working in both office and manufacturing environments. Regular exposure to machinery, noise, and potential hazards in the fabrication shop.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and move around for extended periods. Must be able to lift and carry materials up to 50 lbs as needed.
