The Clinical Laboratory assistant will provide overall support for the Basic Skills Lab and Simulation. This position reports to the Dean. Primary responsibilities of this role will include preparing rooms for each simulation, scheduling simulations in the Learning Space Enterprise clinical simulation management platform, ordering and maintenance of supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of mannequins, supplies, and all rooms. This position will occasionally require the need to work evenings and/or on weekends. Job duties: Providing direct support to the Dean for inventory management including ordering and stocking of all medical supplies and consumables. Assisting with collecting data for semi-annual and annual end of year report on the Center's data utilizations departmental usage. Assisting faculty during simulation with basic computer operations: turning on simulation equipment and starting up Simulation Capture System. Conducting weekly routine equipment and task trainer maintenance. Maintaining daily cleanliness and organization of the Skills lab and Simulation Lab/Center. Conduct ongoing maintenance of all simulation equipment, including cleaning, minor repairs, assuring that all equipment is always maintained in good working order. Maintain the record of any repairs required and completed. Assuring each room has the proper equipment, medications, instrumentation and supplies for each session and performing post-session clean-up. Identifying and communicating to the Dean and other directors for replacement equipment and supplies. Managing the simulation center reception area by greeting visitors, answering telephones, directing students, responding to routine inquiries, providing information on an ad hoc basis as well as retrieving mail and signing packages/deliveries. Perform other duties assigned by the Dean. Qualifications: Experience in a health-related field is required. Previous experience in simulation lab preferred. Must be able to independently move equipment (less than 25 lbs.) and move mannequin (less than 50 lbs.) with the assistance of others. Requirements Knowledge of patient simulation, technologies and applications. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to simulator functions. Knowledge of audio/video equipment and software for recording, and duplication. Proficiency in MS software applications including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as Internet and database applications. Ability to learn new software and hardware quickly and independently. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding job assignments and sensitive issues. Ability to work with internal and external individuals from different disciplines and different levels of training. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated and ability to work effectively in a team environment. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment; able to work evenings/weekends on as needed basis. Excellent organizational skills.
