Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift ER Float position in Arizona, requiring 2 years of Emergency Room experience and active AZ or compact RN license.

Responsibilities

• Acute care setting across multiple ER satellite locations in the West Valley area
• Floats as needed between several sites including Goodyear, Camelback, Mesa, Glendale, and Surprise, with advance scheduling provided
• ER patient population with a 4:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Night shifts with 12-hour shift lengths
• Required to work every other weekend and holiday coverage as needed
• Ventilator capable and ER staff responsible for lab draws
• Uses Cerner EMR system; prior experience is required
• Galaxy blue scrubs are required
• RNs may be one of only two staff nurses at certain satellite locations, requiring strong autonomy and teamwork skills
• Specific equipment includes ventilators and responsibilities include lab draws and IV starts as there is no IV team support
• RNs must maintain sterile field during frequent procedures, with a strong emphasis placed on competency in this area
• Educational-based orientation includes lifts, restraints, and wound care training
• COVID-19 declinations accepted for documented medical or religious reasons
• First day orientation includes pass/fail SIM lab testing; failure to pass after 2 attempts results in disqualification for 6 months at CommonSpirit facilities
• Permanent residence must be at least 50 miles from the facility for eligibility

Requirements

• Active Arizona or compact RN license must be in hand
• Minimum 2 years of recent ER nursing experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; TNCC preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience is required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to the start date with a maximum of 2 attempts
• Must pass a SIM lab skills test on sterile technique for Foley catheter insertion and port-a-cath insertion on Day 1
• Driver’s license is required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from the past 3 years
• Candidates must not have been employed by CommonSpirit (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year
