Systems Integrator & DBA
The Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA) , the largest airline pilot union in the world and the largest non-governmental aviation safety organization in the world (representing over 80,000 pilots at 43 U.S. and Canadian airlines) seeks an experienced Systems Integrator & DBA for our McLean, Virginia, office. The Systems Integrator & DBA ensures that the Associations various Information Technology systems operate at their maximum potential while keeping applications as responsive as possible to the ALPAs user departments. The primary role will be to administer the Associations databases, utilizing a variety of tools to aid in the ongoing support of development, quality assurance, and production databases.
Work requires appreciable originality and imagination, with some latitude for un-reviewed actions and/or decisions. They perform work with minimum supervision, conferring with senior staff and supervisor on unusual problems. May need to travel, as required, to support remote offices.
To excel in this role, the candidate must possess strong analytical skills, be detail-oriented, and have a solid understanding of database management systems, software development life cycles, and cloud computing environments. Effective communication skills are essential as the position involves collaborating with various departments and stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of IT solutions.
The Systems Integrator & DBA will also be responsible for staying current on emerging technologies and industry best practices to continually improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Associations IT infrastructure. This proactive approach will help in anticipating potential issues and implementing preventive measures to maintain optimal system performance and data integrity.
Local, national, and international travel: 5 - 10%.

Occasionally required to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve binders, books, boxes, and files up to ten (10) pounds (lbs.). While on travel, may be responsible to move, raise, reach, and/or retrieve luggage weighing as much as 50 lbs. (Assistance may not always be available.)
