Responsible for supporting the legal department in managing key processes, lawsuits, and contested matters, ensuring timely and appropriate actions in compliance with company policies and applicable state and federal laws and regulations. The target pay range for this position is $75,000.00 to $95,000.00.

What You'll Do:

  • Open and maintain matters in case management system, including handling incoming mail and service of process.
  • Assist in reviewing pleadings served by third parties.
  • Assist in reviewing pleadings prepared by outside counsel.
  • Assist with preparing discovery responses and coordinating with business units.
  • Review various legal documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage document subpoenas by collecting responsive records and preparing formal responses.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of capped fee and non-material matters.
  • Secure key personnel for mediations, depositions, and other events.
  • Coordinate and manage correspondence with outside counsel, third-party entities, and business units.
  • Provide legal and administrative support to departmental staff.
  • Maintain calendar of events and key deadlines.
  • Conduct factual research.
  • Assist with resolving cases by gathering and organizing information.
  • Prepare check requests, vendor payee forms, IT access and change forms, and FedEx labels.
  • Serves as liaison between outside counsel, internal departments, in-house attorneys, and other stakeholders.
  • Conduct pre-claim title review.
  • Ensure compliance with outside counsel guidelines.
  • Create, maintain, and deliver weekly, monthly and quarterly matter related reports.
  • Resolve routine legal issues under the guidance of senior legal personnel.

What You'll Need:

  • Ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A solid working knowledge of mortgage servicing, lending and litigation.
  • Proficient with Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with outside counsel, investors, vendors, business units and legal department personnel.
  • Ability to understand complex problems, pay close attention to details, take notes, and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions.
  • Skilled in assessing decisions with potential impact on the immediate team, while proactively monitoring broader organizational effects.
  • Ability to accurately track and record time.
  • Ability to operate independently and be proactive before issues arise.
  • Associate's degree from accredited college and paralegal certification or a bachelor's degree from accredited college required.
  • Two (2) or more years' experience working as a paralegal.
  • Two (2) or more years' experience working in the mortgage banking industry.
  • Two (2) or more years' experience working within litigation case management system, preferably Legal Tracker.
