Job Summary

Our Project Management team currently has an opening for a Production Assistant.

As the Production Assistant, you would be primarily responsible for providing support services to Project Managers who oversee the publishing process for a variety of print and digital products. As a Production Assistant, you would perform pivotal day-to-day tasks at every stage of publishing. Your primary duties would include:

• Preparing manuscript files for editing and typesetting
• Merging revisions from the author, publisher, proofreader, editor, and photo researcher
• Confirming requested corrections have been properly implemented
• Performing QA checks on copyedited manuscript, page proofs, front matter, back matter, and final deliverables
• Providing project coverage during office outages
• Writing training workflows for tasks performed

Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat are used extensively for these tasks. Learning resources and training opportunities are readily available at GW to strengthen computing skills and improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or working toward one) required.
• Intermediate/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat required.
• Previous customer service experience preferred.
• Familiarity with American Medical Association (AMA) and American Psychological Association (APA) styles a plus.
• Excellent oral and written communication, strong grammar and spelling, skilled time management, and attention to detail are all day-to-day requirements of a Production Assistant.
