We are seeking a
PhD - Metasurface Optical Design Intern for our
Broomfield, CO location.
Key Responsibilities: - Design, simulate, and optimize meta-optic devices as part of an integrated model of larger optical systems
- Collaborate with larger photonics and optics teams to develop novel and impactful photonic devices
YOU MUST HAVE: - Currently enrolled in a PhD program
- Graduating after December 2025
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. person (defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status)
- Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People's Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen
WE VALUE: - 3+ years' experience (PhD inclusive) with computational modeling ofphotonic devices
- Preferred: experience with adjoint optimization and inverse design techniques
- Experience with metasurface modeling and design
- Experience with photonic modeling tools such as COMSOL (or other FEM), Lumerical (or other FDTD), RCWA (various)
- Experience with scientific coding tools (MATLAB, Python, etc.)
- Willingness and ability to communicate and collaborate with a larger team
- Interpersonal skills: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
- Openness to learning new computational methods and software, and enthusiasm for problem solving
- Commitment to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
$35 - $40 an hour
