Overview

JST is currently seeking a Military Adaptive Sports - Event Coordinator to provide support within a government environment. The Military Adaptive Sports-Event Coordinator is responsible for providing a rehabilitative conditioning program appropriate to meet the physical, social, cultural, emotional, and recreational needs and interests of RSMs based on adaptive sports, athletic competitions, and wellness events that promote a successful and well-balanced lifestyle. MAS Event Coordinator is responsible for event coordination to include assistance with planning, coordinating with external agencies, and logistical support.

Military Adaptive Sports - Event Coordinator Responsibilities
  • Investigate, assess, and reassess when necessary; all client cases involving career transition needs within the Recovery Care Plan.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for USSOCOM WCP's Military Adaptive Sports for Events by:
  • Identification of potential event and locations.
  • Develop the logistic plan for equipment movement to support the annual USSOCOM MAS Team selection, trials, and competitions.
  • Conduct MAS event coordination and planning.
  • Marketing adaptive sports events and benefits of participation using multi-platform media.
    • Face-2-face, telephonic, electronic formats, and written formats).
    • Coordinating RSM adaptive sports event support with the Benevolent Support Team.
    • Identify nominees, qualifications, and subsequent entry into the Mentor/Ambassador Program.
  • Coordinate with coaching staff and assist with coaching-related support from planning through execution.
  • Identify existing adaptive sports resources within the community to provide support, augment the program, and provide ongoing support to the RSMs.
  • Collaborate with commensurate program partners for international and national multi-sports events.
  • Assist in development of a messaging and marketing plan to meet WCP intent.
  • Coordinate training opportunities for displaced RSMs.
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for USSOCOM WCP's Military Adaptive Sports for Events by:
    • Researching and identifying reconditioning programs to meet injury specific needs of the RSM
    • Identify adaptive sports equipment commensurate to RSM disabilities.
    • Understand and be able to group RSMs based on injury or disability classifications and provide recommendations on all classification-related issues.
  • Provide assistance, education, and coordination on administrative requirements of RSM participation in adaptive sport events.
  • Perform as liaison to local unit leadership for SOF WII participation in adaptive sports transition status, information, and coordination of efforts while recommending courses of action (COAs) for RSM.
  • Perform as liaison while skillfully interacting with, educating, and providing guidance for MAS concerns to all stakeholders and clients in face-to-face, telephonic, and written venues.
Military Adaptive Sports - Event Coordinator Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Sports Science, Sports Rehabilitation or Social/Behavioral Science related field
  • 3+ years' experience in; coordination of programs related to adaptive sports for inclusive or diverse populations, sports management, or coaching
  • History prioritizing workload to meet deadlines
  • Affective verbal and written communication expressing concepts, plans and proposals
  • Government contract may require person to possess proof of U.S. citizenship
  • Military experience highly preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.)
  • Working rapidly for long periods to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills required with attention to detail and follow-through a must
  • Ability to lead individuals with diverse levels of experience, skills and abilities.
  • Must be able to travel an average of one week a month.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
  • Knowledge and ability in participating in various adaptive sporting events.
