Job Description

The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for providing a great patient experience by checking patient eligibility and insurance plan benefits. Includes utilizing online resources, calling insurance companies, and completion of benefit investigation form in EMR system.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Check patient eligibility and insurance plan benefits via online payer portals and outgoing calls to the insurance plan
• Completion of benefit verification form in EMR system
• Following the department procedures to ensure timely completion of benefit investigations
• Communication with internal Patient Financial Services Staff and external practice managers when inaccurate demographic information is supplied
• Review and update demographic and insurance information in the EMR system
• Supports and actively participates in initiatives designed to improve individual and organizational performance.

Experience:

• 1 year of work experience in Medical Insurance Verification is required
• High School Diploma or equivalent required - some college preferred
