Cost Accountant

Are you a numbers wizard with a keen eye for optimizing costs and driving efficiency? Our top client is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance team. In this pivotal role, you will be a key player in providing the critical insights that inform our strategic business decisions. What You'll Do: 

• Analyze and Optimize: Monitor and analyze monthly cost updates for our manufacturing operations, diving deep into material, labor, and other expenses to determine production costs.
• Drive Strategic Decisions: Evaluate changes in product design, raw materials, or manufacturing methods to assess their effects on costs and provide data that supports smart business moves.
• Manage Inventory: Prepare, analyze, and track monthly inventory reserves, material savings, and variances.
• Track Performance: Provide monthly analysis of production variances and monitor purchase price variances to maintain cost control.
• Ensure Accuracy: Prepare timely and accurate monthly standard costs, perform monthly cost rolls, and assist with month-end journal entries and audit requests.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Serve as a primary point of contact for site controllers and other accountants, fostering strong relationships to ensure accurate reporting and a clear understanding of financial data.
• Improve Processes: Seek out and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in cost accounting processes and financial reporting across the assigned area.

What We're Looking For

• An undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• 2–5 years of progressive experience in accounting, cost accounting, or finance.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
• Proficiency with ERP systems, with SAP experience being a significant plus.
• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and cost accounting methods.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and detail-oriented skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and take ownership of your work.
• A CPA certification is a preferred qualification.
