Position Overview:
We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Coding Specialist II to join our team! In this role, you will play a crucial part in coding and verifying charge data to ensure accurate coding, abstracting, and billing for various services, including emergency department (ED), same-day surgery (SDS), outpatient clinic (OPC), observation (OBS), specialty clinics, and inpatient OB/newborn encounters.
Your responsibilities will also include conducting charge reviews for clinic and hospital visits, ensuring that all professional charges and billing are accurate. This position requires expertise in assigning ICD-10 CM, PCS, CPT, HCPCS, HCC, HEDIS CAT II, E/M, and modifier codes.
You will be a key resource for our coding staff, providing guidance on coding integrity and established guidelines, while upholding our commitment to accuracy in patient medical records and appropriate reimbursement for services rendered.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately code and verify charge data for various medical encounters.
Conduct thorough charge reviews to ensure proper professional charging and billing.
Maintain proficiency in ICD-10 CM, PCS, CPT, HCPCS, HCC, HEDIS CAT II, E/M, and modifier codes.
Provide direction and support to coding staff regarding coding standards and guidelines.
Ensure compliance with established policies to maintain the integrity of patient information.
Qualifications:
AAPC certification is required; CPC, CPC-H, and/or COC preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of coding experience in a hospital setting, including ED, Surgery, Trauma, Psych, and telehealth.
Ability to manage a high volume of cases efficiently.
Strong knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4/HCPCS, HCC, and HEDIS CAT II coding.
Familiarity with EPIC EHR and 3M 360 coding is a plus.
Must have graduated from an accredited coding program or health information management program.
