POSITION SUMMARY
The Student Success Coach plays a key role in helping our Black Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Achievement Team achieve our goals. The Student Success Coach helps students in our BIPOC Early Educator Pre-Apprenticeship Program (EEPAP) develop skills, behaviors, and habits that contribute to success in college. These includes tutoring, academic and career goal setting, learning strategies, time management and organization, self-regulation and self-efficacy.

The Coach also contributes to developing workshops as well as a suite of academic supports, tailored to meet the learning needs of our students.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :

The Student Success Coach core responsibilities are to help students in our BIPOC EEPAP to ensure students develop skills, behaviors and habits that contribute to success in college, the Coach will:

  • Foster persistence and support course completion by maintaining a caseload of up to 60 college and/or transfer of students.
  • Monitor progress of students in caseload with check-ins, scheduled meetings or proactive outreach, tutoring and communication, and/or by responding to students request for support.
  • Conduct academic coaching through individual or group sessions that help students assess their own performance and to develop academic success plans.
  • Attend weekly pipeline classes and assist students in developing goals for academic improvement by creating a prioritized actionable plan to identify and overcome obstacles that may be impeding academic success; work with students to learn strong time management and organization skills; motivate students to practice self-regulation and take ownership of their academic success.
  • Refer students to appropriate academic personnel and support resources, and collaborates with others to monitor and accelerate the academic progress of the students referred.
  • Guide, provide administrative support, and advocate for students regarding specific department or college needs as needed.
  • Design curriculum, training, and resources; facilitate linkages to professional development opportunities for students on their caseload.
  • Attend and participate in community meetings up to six times per month, to cultivate and maintain partnerships with key stakeholdersECE programs, community-based organizations, funders, and content experts.
  • Develop strong partnerships with outside organizations to build a more effective program through strategic collaboration.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with internal provider facing teams and quality coaches to ensure holistic and streamlined support.
  • Responsible for tracking and gathering data regarding transcripts, program completion, academic success andassist in completing reports.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 5 + years experience in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Social Sciences, or related field
  • Knowledge of, and experience supporting and working with family child care providers and or college students
  • Experience coaching and mentoring adult learners
  • Experience with curriculum development, dual language learning, inquiry-based learning, quality improvement planning, implementation and systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding and high-level experience working with adult learning concepts and strategies.
  • Experience developing and delivering training, coaching, and peer learning facilitation for adult learners.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products including Excel and PowerPoint, Zoom, and are comfortable with using technology to improve interactions with clients and the processing of forms and documentation.
  • Project management skills such as using effective time management tools and processes; ability to plan new projects through to delivery, reflection, and reporting.
  • Must have flexibility to work some evenings and weekends and be comfortable/able to travel within all San Francisco communities.
  • Background clearance is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

  • Must be able to remain stationary for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to move throughout the office, access files, meet with clientsand community stakeholders.
  • Requires the mental acuity to perform the essential functions as outlined in an accurate and timely fashion.

Hybrid Work:

Childrens Council operates in a hybrid model and requires employees to be present in the officeat least3 days per week, with the option to work 2 days per week remotely. Applicants should be comfortable with both the remote and in office scenarios.
